§ 02 / the problem
An indie publisher in search of a calm reading surface.
CultureNurtures is a small independent publisher with a growing back catalogue and nowhere coherent for readers to land. The existing setup was a generic WordPress theme with sidebar widgets, related-post grids, newsletter popups, and ad slots — all the default noise of a modern blog template. The writing deserved a quieter frame.

WordPress, but only the parts that serve the reading.
We kept WordPress as the CMS — the publisher already trusted it, and the editorial workflow was fine — and replaced the theme with a minimal custom build. One column, generous type, slow colors, no popups. Archives organized by topic rather than date. The reading experience now matches the writing: unhurried, specific, and easy to send to a friend.
